Fair price with a wide variety. Good smoky meats, choice between sugar base or vinegar, red or white slaw. What more could you ask for?

A good place to pick up lunch.

Below average Barbeque. Ribs are their best option. They are well cooked so the meat is tender and falls off the bone. Place is not nice at all. Looks old and not very well taken care of. Prices are good. Staff is nice. Feel bad giving them 3 stars but can't see this place with 4 stars. Not a bad option for a quick, inexpensive BBQ stop.

Good food at a very reasonable price. I can call in an order and it is always hot and ready in 10 or 15. I really like this little place. A great locally owned business to support during the covid 19 times.

So Boss Hog changed management and/or ownership sometime in 2018. We’ve lived in Sherrills Ford about four years and had an entirely unsatisfactory experience at Boss before the change. What a difference!Don’t get me wrong. My observation of the old Boss was a very popular joint that, based on the look of the place-inside and out—was not appealing. I guess the BBQ was good, we didn’t think so, but it was a no frills place. The new Boss hasn’t changed in size or shape but it’s way more appealing in its appearance. It’s still a no frills BBQ joint but it doesn’t inspire apprehension walking in the door.By the way, the food is excellent; the Shrimp PoBoy is loaded with shrimp, the Pork and Chicken are top notch. Service is quick and friendly. Here’s to Boss Hog, fine dining it isn’t, fine food is absolutely is.

Great staff. The service was quick. The bbq is good and the sides were good also. Food was fresh and hot.

This place is alright. Its not the best around but for sure not the worst. Prices are on point but nothing I would go out of my way to get. It seemed like one of those small town joints that is more of a tradition than good food. Prob should give 3 stars but they are good enough that I dont want to hurt their score.

Had the chicken fried steak sandwich... it was delicious. Fresh lettuce and tomatoe, perfect amount of mayo... great sandwich

First time trying this place and was very pleased. The food was fresh, quick, and delicious! Also tried their turtle pie and it was amazing!! Super friendly and pleasant staff as well. Give this place a try if you're in the area and want a delicious meal.

This NC gal knows BBQ and this place is spot on! Excellent vinegar based sauce and their meat has a wonderful balance of seasoning and smoky flavor. They also have great side dishes. My kids devour their corn nuggets, while my favorite is the hush puppies. The new management has added items to the menu and upgraded the soda machine. The dining room is on the smaller side but we always get ours to go anyway.

The minced slaw and sauce they add to the pulled pork sandwiches pairs really well with the pork. I thought the one I got was as tasty as any pulled pork sandwich I've ever eaten.

Cheese steak was awesome

OMG! This place is a must visit, I will be there every time I am around Lake Norman! The BBQ coleslaw is fantastic, a nice change on a BBQ plate staple. The pork is tender, smokey, and very fresh. The vinegar sauce is some of the best I have ever had.

Love love love Boss Hogs. Great everything, just take your pick. And those cornbread sticks are the best.

Great little joint. Good menu options for those who aren't fans of pork, but sadly, no beef brisket. The smoked chicken is good, as are the hamburgers. I haven't tried the whole list to know what else is good. The banana pudding Is right, be sure to save room for dessert! **Update- Thursday features a brisket special, and it is delicious!

Good menu good service and lots of items

Just average BBQ. Nothing special. I wouldn't go back. The staff were very nice and there was a great view of the mountains while eating.

I visit this area often for family reasons and honestly. It may seem impossible but the best bbq Iv ever had. The meat is cooked basically perfect and the vinegar sauce is exactly what I expect in NC. A true hidden gem!

Ran up on this place and had to stop in. Nice location, small inside but the BBQ was amazing. Had the Boss Hog sandwich, $5.45 and an order of hush puppies, $2.40. Both were delicious. Sandwich was loaded with BBQ, slaw and pickle. Trust me,, it was a meal.Definitely a stop if you're in the area.

Fish sandwiches were on point. Great price and portion size. Cole slaw and tartar sauce. Not too salty. Fried well. BBQ sandwiches excellent as well. Fries were wonderful. Ribs were meh.

Best food establishment in Catawba County, large variety of food so even the pickiest eaters have choices. Very nice staff with quite the family friendly atmosphere. Love it. 10/10 recommend

Best food around. We eat there usually twice a week. Bbq is absolutely awesome, best fish sandwich I've ever had. Tried most items on menu and never been disappointed. Fast and friendly service. Highly recommended, a must try.

Corn nuggets were good the wings were average but the sauce was very runny and even the hot was very mild. BBQ was average but didn't care for the red slaw, just preference though.

Outstanding food, and very quick service - even though they were extremely busy, and VERY large servings with just-off-the-grill heat...LOVED IT!!

Great place and definitely worth our 30 min drive. BBQ, chicken and wings are all delicious. Brunswick stew is some of the best I've found anywhere. Family friendly with super nice staff and affordable prices.

Very good lunch food is like eating at home

We drove over 2 hours to take friends to Boss Hog BBQ. They had been there years ago and wanted to go back. It was really wonderful. Probably the best hush puppies I've ever tasted. Crispy on the outside, soft and tasty on the inside. The others told me that the BBQ was the best! I thought the fish sandwich was the best I'd ever had. I had it with the slaw on it and it was really, really good. Worth the drive!!

This place has been around a good while. I find that the bbq is too dry. The hush puppys were hard and dry. It might have been a bad day im not putting them down. I don't eat there that often. Its history and it will get better.

Spicy (Hot) BBQ Sauce to strong on the Vinegar flavor. Love the regular sauce. BBQ was tender, moist and not an over powering of Smoky Taste.

Have been here several times and will go back. Burgers are fantastic-fresh, big, delicious. Chicken tenders were moist inside, crispy outside. But best of all was the pork bbq and sauce- had some catered and everyone loved it! Super friendly staff and fast service.

Large menu and fast service. 4 bbq sandwiches for $25 is a great deal. Inside and outside seating. Self serve drink station. Plenty of parking.

Food was fair at best. Had heard so much about great barbeque and was seriously disappointed.

On our way to Ohio, for a terribly planned trip over a holiday weekend, we stumbled upon Boss Hog’s just before we fainted from hunger. As soon as we walked in, the smell of rich, fresh BBQ smacked us in the face. There are only 2 photos here, halfway through eating because it was so tasty we couldn’t slow down. The Boss Hog burger my husband got was like the best version of a Carolina Classic I’ve ever tasted. And oh, don’t you dare forget those corn nuggets. Oh. My. Glob. If you find yourself up this way, do yourself a favor and grab some grub. You won’t regret it.
